About this project

Hospindex covers Belgian hospitals, Carehomesindex covers residential elderly care. Both appear every year as a printed reference work, and both used to be assembled the way you would expect: spreadsheets, e-mail, and a lot of chasing.

We turned that into a platform the sector maintains itself. Every organisation gets its own login to check and correct its entry, upload its logo, and record how it relates to the groups it belongs to. Advertisers get a separate login and their own rubrics. A validation step lets the editors see, per record, what has been confirmed and what has not, and reminder campaigns go out from the same system.

The part that matters most is the least visible: the export. When the edition closes, the whole database leaves as a structured file the printer can lay out directly, and the proofs come back against the same source. That is what turns a year of scattered corrections into a book that ships on time.
