About this project

"Is it accessible?" is not a yes or no question. A ramp that is too steep, a door 5 cm too narrow, a single step at the entrance: each of those decides whether someone can get in, and none of them fit on a checkbox. On Wheels was started by wheelchair users who were tired of finding that out on arrival.

So the app records measurements, not verdicts. Door width in centimetres, number of steps, whether there is a ramp or a turning point, opening hours: the things you would want to know before you set out. The map shows what has been measured, the community keeps it current, and roll routes string accessible places into a trip that works end to end.

We are On Wheels' long-term development partner and carry the whole platform: the Flutter app on both stores, the API and database behind it, the website, and the management side where cities and municipalities turn the collected data into policy documents. That last part is what makes the measuring worth doing, because it is where a number about a doorway becomes a decision about a street.
